Parenting Advice

Do not...

I repeat, do not leave strawberry smelling bubble bath in the bathroom, in a drawer that kids can reach.

(Can you see it oozing down the sides?)

If you do, you will end up trying to clean something up that will eternally foam up, no matter how many times you soak it up with water and a towel.

But I'm sure you're smart enough to already know this.

Friday Love

Happy Friday!

Here is some Friday love for ya :)

* You must watch this video about Improv Everywhere's Rob getting lost at a Knick's game. It's hilarious!

* Today I am making PB cookies with Reese's PB cups in them for Wade to take deer hunting tomorrow. I'm reeeeeeaaaally hoping that I don't eat them all and there are actually some left for him to take!

* And I was going thru some pictures that I got from Allison and these made me laugh.

Aww, what a sweet picture. Too bad someone's hand is in the way. I wonder whose hand that is?

She wasn't the center of attention for that shot and felt the need to correct that.

Her face says it all. :)

Have a good weekend, everybody!!

Good-bye November, Hello December!

November was a fairly quiet month for us. Aside from Wade working a ton, thus making me a single mom many nights, we had lots of open weekends to just hang out. Because we had a little more free time, we got a lot done on the basement. OH WAIT.... no we didn't. *cough* WADE *cough*

But on a positive note, he did send me flowers when I was having a rough day.

November also brought us a nice Thanksgiving at my parent's house, a 70s themed murder mystery dinner date, a chance to watch Reese at her dance class (I'll repost that video soon, sorry), a family afternoon to a coffee shop, to the library, and then Beck's for supper, Beckett found all my pots and pans and refused to ever let me put them away, and Reese seemed to grow up a ton this month.

I'm excited to Christmas and, believe it or not, a little snow! If the forecasts are correct, it sounds like we won't have to wait much longer.

Hope your December is wonderful!

The days are long

I am finding this to be amazingly and unbelievably true.

Click on the link. It's a short, little video. It comes from a blog called The Happiness Project that I like to stop by every now and again.

And that movie reminded me of this little piece that I've always loved.

I'll be happy when...

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another.

Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are.

After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage.

We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, when we are able to go on a nice vacation or when we retire.

The truth is there's no better time to be happy than right now.

 If not now, when?

Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Happiness is the way.

So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with ... and remember that time waits for no one.

So, stop waiting
Until your car or home is paid off.
Until you get a new car or home.
Until your kids leave the house.
Until you go back to school.
Until you finish school.
Until you lose 10 lbs.
Until you gain 10 lbs.
Until you get married.
Until you get a divorce.
Until you have kids.
Until you retire.
Until summer.
Until spring.
Until winter.
Until fall.
Until you die.

There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. So work like you don't need money, love like you've never been hurt, and, dance like no one's watching.

Oh, and it was rainy and dreary today so we made cookies :)

We love Lori!

Two cute things that Reese said recently that I wanted to share :)

1) Every year when the Salvation Army puts out their Red Kettles, I always give Reese some change to put in the pot on our way into the store. Every time.

Well, now that she's 3 I figured she could start learning about giving. So Friday night, when I asked her if she knew why we give them money, she replied, "Yeah, so that man will let us into the store."

Umm, yeah, not so much.

2) Last night I heard her humming a song to herself and I asked her what she was singing. She sang lounder so I could hear and she sang a song that we had sang in church that morning.  She did a good job but instead of Lord, she sang- "We love you Lori, We love you, We love you...."

She must have been sad that we were not traveling to KC this year!  I am too! We love you, Lori!

Good Morning Monday :)
